Saturday – Majesty of the Sea

The team waiting on the pier

Fish drying on the bank

Today was a day for relaxation, thanks to the gracious hospitality of Mercedes Dalton, Global Action’s ministry director for Latin America. We were her guests at her beach home on the Pacific Ocean, where we thoroughly enjoyed the crashing waves, black sands, and beautiful pool. We stopped along the way to the beach to one of the public piers to see the local fish market, overflowing with a wide variety of freshly caught fish, oysters and prawns.

We could do this forever

You need to join us here.

Boys having fun

Wow does this look inviting.

Then we enjoyed the rest of the day swimming, relaxing, walking along the beach, enjoying great food and fellowship.

Empty beach

Great waves

This is where you want to be next year

There is nothing like a beach sunset, and we snapped pictures madly as the sun set beautifully behind the mountains.

After a rousing game of beach volleyball, we gathered together to hear Mercedes’ testimony of God’s faithfulness in her life and ministry.

Tim what is with you, it was your ball to hit, come on play or get off the sand and let someone play who cares.

We also had the Global Action ministry assistant and her family with us, and it was great to get to visit with them more and hear how God is working in their lives. Praying for Mercedes, her family, ministry and the needs of El Salvador and Central America, as well as for Minina and her family, was the perfect ending to a spectacular day. We have been welcomed so warmly here; it is wonderful to be with our Christian family in El Salvador and share lives together. Just a preview of heaven when we will all be together!

Tomorrow we will go to an early worship service before we go upcountry to enjoy more of the beauty of this country and for those courageous enough, we will enjoy a canopy tour on zip lines above the lush forests. So far, everyone says they are game for it, so we’ll see who perseveres.

This first week has been an amazing experience. We have all been deeply touched by everyone we have worked with and feel a special bond with the Sonsonate school. We know that this next week will give us new insights into other ministry needs, connect us with more special people and challenge us in new ways. Please continue to pray for the Sonsonate deaf school, for all their needs and the possibility of providing more education for the high school students through the Christian school there. Pray for the team that we will be open to however the Lord wants to use us this next week, and that we will clearly hear His voice as He speaks to us individually, specifically, as He continues to teach and lead us in this journey with Him.

  1. It sounds like a refreshing and encouraging day. I'm praying for another day of encouragement and rest as you worship, and enjoy the canopy tour. I'm asking God to strengthen you for this next week of ministry in El Salvador.
